UEFA has announced the names of the players shortlisted for the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League positional awards.

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi and Juventus ace Cristiano Ronaldo have been nominated for the UEFA Champions League Forward of the Season award.
The awards will honour the best Goalkeeper, Defender, Midfielder and Forward from the 2018/19 UEFA Champions League season, and will be presented during the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League group stage draw in Monaco on Thursday 29 August.
The shortlists are IN for the 2018/19 positional awards.

The full shortlist is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Alisson (Liverpool), Hugo Lloris (Tottenham), Marc-André ter Stegen (Barcelona).
Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Matthijs de Ligt (Ajax, now Juventus), Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool).
Midfielders: Frenkie de Jong (Ajax, now Barcelona), Christian Eriksen (Tottenham), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool).
Forwards: Sadio Mane (Liverpool), Lionel Messi (Barcelona), Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus).
According to a statement on UEFA’s website, the nominations were picked by a jury compiled of coaches and journalists.
