Chris Gayle’s records-breaking unbeaten 146 has propelled Rangpur Riders to beat Dhaka Dynamites to the seventh Bangladesh Premier League maiden crown.

The explosive West Indian single-handedly helped his team to a 57-run victory in the final at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Tuesday.

Gayle smashed a series of records an route to unbeaten 146 off 69 and take Riders to 206 for 1. The blitzkrieg dented the Dynamites’ confidence and the favourites could muster only 149 for 9 in their chase.

The Jamaican smashed 18 sixes during his knock to set a new record for the most sixes in a Twenty20 innings. He surpassed 11,000 runs in T20s and owned the highest individual score in a final of a T20 league.

Gayle is now the only batsman to have 20 hundreds under his belt in the shortest format of the game and hit more than 100 sixes in the BPL.
