Top-order batsman Anamul Haque and pacer Al-Amin Hossain have reaped the reward of doing well in domestic competitions, receiving spots in the preliminary squad for Bangladesh’s tour of Australia and South Africa.

Allrounders Tanbir Hayder, Muktar Ali, Abul Hasan and spinner Saqlain Sajib were also named in the 29-man squad on Thursday. The players will go through a conditioning camp starting Jul 10 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

The Tigers will play two Tests against Australia at home in August-September. The men in red and green will then fly to South Africa at the end of September for two Tests, three ODIs and two Twenty20s.

All the players from Bangladesh squad of Ireland tour and Champions Trophy have been included in the preliminary team.

Paceman Rubel Hossain, who suffered a broken jaw after colliding with the door, will need four to six weeks to recover after surgery. He is likely to join the camp after recovery.

Anamul has played the last of his four Tests in 2014. The 24-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman made his last appearance in national colours in November 2015.

The last time Al-Amin, who also played his last Test in 2014, played with the Tigers was in March last year, at the World T20 in India. He turned up with a fine show at the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League to get a spot in the preliminary squad.
