Pakistan’s wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmal and former captain Salman Butt set the world record for Twenty20 in the opening pair. On Friday, they made a 209-run partnership against the Islamabad team in Pakistan’s domestic Twenty20 in Rawalpindi.
The previous record of 207 by Joe Denly and Daniel Bell-Drummond of Kent in August at NatWest T20 Blast.
The 35-year-old Pakistan national player, Kamran, played for Lahore White, was unbeaten on 150 off 12 balls with seven sixes and 14 fours. He is the first player and wicketkeeper of Pakistan to make the record.
Salman Butt was unbeaten on 55 off 49 balls. Their pair gave a tough target of 212 against Islamabad.
Eventually, Islamabad lost all wickets 100 runs in 100 overs to defeat Lahore by a big margin.
