England plays two Tests and three one-day internationals in Bangladesh, beginning on 7 October. Lancashire’s 19-year-old opener Haseeb Hameed is set to be named in England’s squad for their tour to Bangladesh when it is announced on Friday.

That has opened the door for Hameed, the right-hander who has scored 1,129 runs in the County Championship this season. If he plays in the first Test Hameed will become only the second teenager to appear in the longer form of the game for England since 1949.

Though there is little more than a week between the end of the second Test in Bangladesh and the beginning of a five-Test series in India, England will only name the party for Bangladesh when the squad is announced at 10:00 BST on Friday.
